Teacher Selection Model Overview
We created this webpage to assist and guide applicants as they navigate our unique Teacher Selection Model. Please review the key steps in the selection process so you are best prepared and most confident. To help your preparation, browse the Frequently Asked Questions we have received.
Step 1: Application & Data Exercise
In the first step of the process, you will complete the application and a data exercise. We review your resume and credentials thoroughly to determine whether your qualifications meet minimum requirements. A section of the application includes situation based questions that give us an idea of your strengths and behavior in a work environment. Your data exercise results help us to assess how well you analyze student data and use it to drive classroom instruction. You are strongly encouraged to do your best work!
We will notify you within usually 48 hours if you are invited to advance in the selection process.
Step 2: Phone Interview
If you are invited to the phone interview step in the selection process you will be asked to role play a mini – lesson. This gives us a glimpse of your teaching style and a realistic sense of how you will perform in the classroom. During the phone interview, applicants will be asked to teach a 5 minute mini-lesson to the interviewer; assess the interviewer's mastery of the lesson objective in 2 minutes; then discuss activities, resources, and assessments that could be used within the lesson. Applicants will select the lesson content and objective of their choice.
Step 3: Admitted to the Candidate Pool
Applicants who have completed the phone interview will be admitted to the candidate pool and are eligible for a school based interview. Principals are able to review your application at this stage, and may reach out to you to inquire about your availability and interest in interviewing for positions at their school. Fulton's Talent Division team may also contact you to better understand your interest in open positions.
Step 4: School Based Selection
If invited to a school based interview, you can expect to participate in interview activities that allow our local school leaders to assess your teaching methods. This helps us determine if you would be a strong match for the school and if the school's instructional needs are a good fit for your background. Principals may then recommend a candidate for hire. Finalists will be contacted by the district's Talent Division before receiving an official offer of employment.
These steps represent a typical process, but your experience may vary. Our goal is to create a selection process that is efficient as possible given the specific circumstances of the vacancy.
