Fulton County Schools Safety & Security Resources

A Message From Superintendent Dr. Jeff Rose

A Message Regarding Recent School Shootings

Fulton County Schools would like to express its deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and those injured in the mass school shootings across our country. Our thoughts are with those communities as they cope with tragedy and heartbreak.

I am deeply saddened and troubled by the mass shootings that continue to plague our nation.

Fulton County Schools will not let its guard down when it comes to the safety and security of our students and staff. In recent months, we have taken further steps to strengthen security on all of our campuses. We have retrained our staff on active shooter protocols, added more police officers to our force, and strengthened security measures on everything from our front entry systems, to surveillance cameras.

We want to keep you continually updated on our plans and remind you of our Safety and Security page that features more information. Please take the time to review the materials by clicking here: http://www.fultonschools.org/safety.

We will continue to be vigilant in our efforts to keep students and employees protected, emotionally comfortable, and ready to learn.

Jeff Rose, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Help us keep your children safe

The safety and security of our students is of the utmost importance to the Fulton County School District. This page has been created to advise parents of security measures in place and provide resources which allow them to help District personnel in the event of an emergency.

What you can do to help:

Review this information carefully.
Following the steps provided will help school officials, police officers, firefighters and other first responders do their jobs and focus on the safety of all involved.

Keep your child's emergency contact information up to date.
Inform your child's school immediately if your phone number, address or email address changes. You may be called and emailed during an emergency. Additionally, children will only be released to adults listed on the emergency information form.

Talk with your child
Take a few moments and discuss with your student about listening and following directions at all times and especially during an emergency. Click here for helpful information about Talking To Your Childen About Violence.

FSC Mobile App
"If you see something, say something!"

As part of our ongoing safety and security efforts, Fulton County Schools offers a Quick Tip function on our FCS app. There are posters in schools with steps for students to follow if they have something to report. Contact information is optional, so reports can be made anonymously. The app also has the capability to upload a picture, so students can share threatening or inappropriate social media posts or any activity believed to be suspicious activity.

When a report comes in through Quick Tip, it is received and investigated by the Department of Safety and Security. They determine where the information gets routed from there (e.g., school principals, Human Resources, the Fulton County Schools police department). The Department of Safety and Security takes all reports to Quick Tips seriously: Any Quick Tip received by the district is investigated.

The Fulton County Schools app is available for iPhones and Android phones. If a concerned student or parent does not have access to the app, Quick Tips can also be reported on our website. Another contact option is to email safety@fultonschools.org.

Fulton County Schools is committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students, and we are continually seeking ways to improve. Students, parents, and staff are all encouraged to install the Fulton County Schools app, which includes access to Quick Tips.

Download the Fulton County Schools App

The app is now available in the Apple App Store and on Google Play. Search for "Fulton County Schools" or click the button below for your app store.
