Gail Dean represents areas in the cities of Sandy Springs, East Point, and College Park, and all of the City of Hapeville.
A longtime advocate for public education, Dean was an active school volunteer and a member of numerous reform and system-level committees prior to being elected in 2000. She has served as PTA President, Local School Advisory Council chair, and as a member of the Sandy Springs Legislative Committee.
Her knowledge of public finance and construction is an asset to the School Board. A previous home builder, she is past p resident of the Atlanta Homebuilders Association – Inner Atlanta Chapter, has owned a real estate brokerage and two construction firms, and has consulted for financial institutions throughout the Southeast.
She represents her community on the Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods, has served on the Board of Sandy Springs/North Fulton Clean and Beautiful and was an appointee to the original committee that reviewed Special Charter Schools for the Georgia Board of Education.
Since being elected she has served on the Boards of the Fulton County School Employees' Charitable Fund, Fulton Education Foundation, and the Fulton Employees' Pension Board. She currently chairs the Audit Committee of the Board.
Gail has a personal interest in and is an active beekeeper. Her honey has won numerous awards in local and statewide honey shows and she serves on the Board of Directors of the Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association and is Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee of the Georgia Beekeepers Association.
Gail has four children who all graduated from Fulton County Schools, and lives with her husband in Sandy Springs.
