The Board Services Office assists members of the Fulton County Board of Education and their constituents as well as school system departments with matters involving the school board and its business.
The Board Services Office manages production of the school board's meeting agendas using BoardDocs, a program that makes the agenda and all supporting documents available online. Board meeting locations are equipped with wireless technology that allow access to the Internet and the BoardDocs agenda site.
Public Comment Registration
Time is set aside at each regularly-scheduled board meeting to allow Fulton County residents, businesses or organizations, or school system employees to address the School Board. The Board Services Office manages the sign-in process using these guidelines.
'Board Briefs" are unofficial, general summaries of actions occuring at school board meetings. Only meetings where the board took action are reported. Official minutes of each meeting are posted on the BoardDocs website. All work sessions and board meetings are videotaped and/or audiotaped. The meeting video or audio files can be accessed by going to the Board Meetings Videostreaming website. Files are posted to the archive site approximately 24-48 hours after each meeting.
The Board Services Office helps parents and the community resolve conflicts and issues that have not been resolved at the local level. Parents are encouraged to first seek resolution at the local level through the appropriate staff member or department head closest to the issue (Constituent Flowchart). For example, if it is a student matter, the first point of contact is usually the teacher.
If the matter has been addressed by the appropriate staff, such as the teacher and the principal at the local school level, and the parent feels that additional attention is warranted, the next point of contact is the school's Learning Community office. Issues and conflicts that can be successfully resolved are then usually managed by the Board Services Office.
