Charter System
 

Fulton County Schools' charter system status officially began on July 1, 2012.  As a charter system, the district is well positioned to drive system wide gains in student achievement by unleashing the innovative energies of our local school leaders and their communities. It is important to note that this designation does not make the school system a system comprised of individual charter schools.  

The Fulton Charter System website will continue to be a important resource for timely updates and other announcements related to the implementation phase, as well as more general information for each of our school communities.  We have also maintained all the documents and resources shared during the two-year exploration process on this site.

4.19.13
Thirty-seven schools have confirmed their participation in Cohort 2 of the charter system. The list includes 18 elementary schools, 13 middle schools and 6 high schools. These schools will begin implementation in the 2013-14 school year.

Cohort 2 schools are being finalized. Check back here in a few weeks for the list of schools who will begin their charter system planning in the 2013-14 school year.

Cohort 1 School Governance Council members have completed their governance training requirement. Answers to frequently asked questions from the training can be found in the SGC Guidance document.

Cohort 1 schools have elected their parent and teacher representatives to their School Governance Councils. School employee and community member representatives will be seated by the end of January 2013.

The Cohort 1 Implementation Home page was launched to provide important information for Cohort 1 schools and to highlight details about the upcoming governance council election process, regulations, and immediate next steps.
