Riverwood High School Pre-Design Programming Overview

The district is undertaking an in-depth pre-design and planning process for the Riverwood project in an effort to create a facility that best fits the needs and desires of the school community. National experts in innovative school design are facilitating a series of workshops, presentations, interviews, and community forums in order to provide a broad understanding of the possibilities that are available to Riverwood and to seek direction from the community.

The pre-design exercise will result in an architectural program and a narrative describing a vision for the school. These deliverables will be presented to the community and will be available, along with video and audio recordings from the community forums, for public review on the district's website.

Learning and Design Symposium, April 26, 2014

On Saturday, April 26, Riverwood International Charter School hosted a successful half-day symposium on how high school design can be envisioned so that it supports modern day learning. National experts in the field of education, leadership, and technology guided a morning session on how instructional design should serve as a foundation for school design.

Saturday's session was a first step in a discussion that will guide Fulton County Schools in how to construct high school facilities that support learning in the 21st Century. Two additional forums are scheduled at Riverwood for May 7 and May 14, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Using input received during the April 26 symposium, facilitators will engage with the community to define a vision for future high school design.
