Capital Construction is a major focus of the SPLOST program. New schools, classroom additions, and renovations and modifications are key components of the construction program. New Schools will be constructed to provide classroom space based upon current or projected overcrowding, or to replace existing facilities which were not deemed as economically viable to renovate due to age or other physical restrictions. Classroom additions will be built at schools due to projected growth, deficiencies in educational adequacy, and/or expansion of the instructional programs. Renovations of existing facilities will be made based on the need to modify, reconfigure, consolidate, equip, upgrade and replace structures used in schools, special programs and in administrative support locations.
