New STEM-focused high school campuses will create options for students who are seeking a non-traditional, rigorous, STEM-based high school experience in areas such as healthcare, engineering, and computer science. The North STEM-focused campus is scheduled to open in August of 2020. The South STEM-focused campus is scheduled to open in August of 2021.
The STEM-focused campus (North) is a high school dedicated to providing rigorous and relevant instruction with focused interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics that will prepare students for college and career readiness through academics, career-related courses, internships, and industry certifications.
To provide students with unique and authentic instructional experiences in STEM fields; specifically, in the areas of healthcare science, engineering/manufacturing, and information technology.
To build strategic partnerships between Fulton County Schools and the business community that will provide industry experiences and internship opportunities for students
To provide students with multiple industry certification opportunities that will prepare them to be college and career ready
On Tuesday, March 28, 2017 a community meeting was held at the Milton Center to discuss the educational specifications. There were over 100 community members in attendance. School Board Work Session
During the May 9th School Board work session, Mr. Patrick Burke presented the educational specification for the STEM-focused campus (North), the process used to develop the specification, and some key elements of the proposed program. Click here to view the presentation. Included within the presentation is an appendix that summarizes the findings and input collected throughout each stage of the process. This input will be vetted within the context of the overall program's goals, the existing specifications, and the budget of the project.
