Thanks to the eSPLOST one-penny sales tax, 2015 has proven a busy year with new school construction and renovations.
This year, more than 26 major school projects are being completed, including three new elementary schools, a new middle school, and six school additions. New playgrounds were installed at 33 elementary schools, 23 gym floors were replaced and several schools' mechanical systems were upgraded to enhance the learning environment.
Safety & Security
Nothing is more important than the safety and security of students. To ensure the best possible learning environment, eSPLOST funded new security cameras in all Fulton school buses and has also provided visitor access control and identification systems in each school. In addition to securing the entry points of all schools, these new systems allow staff to scan a visitor's ID and check it against law enforcement databases.
We live in a dynamic world surrounded by almost endless amounts of information. Parents and educators agree that our current students and future graduates must be able to effectively use technology to be competitive in a global marketplace. This year, Fulton County Schools is increasing the use of technology – both in and out of the classroom. This not only provides more access to information, but it also provides a "mobile" classroom that allows students to learn at any time, at any place.
During 2015, 60 new school buses were placed into service to replace older vehicles. To enhance student security, new cameras also were installed in all buses.
