Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are additional academic instruction provided outside the regular school day that is designed to increase the academic achievement of students in low-performing schools. (State Board of Education Rule 160-7-1-.02 Accountability)

Supplemental Educational Services become an option for parents when a school has been identified for Needs Improvement Year 2.

DotSchool districts must offer students enrolled in the school access to instructional extension services in accordance with SBOE Rule 160-4-2-.14 Instructional Extension prioritizing the school's lowest achieving students.

DotFor Title I schools, school districts must arrange for Supplemental Education Services in accordance with federal law and State Board of Education Rule 160-4-5-.03 Supplemental Educational Services.

Supplemental Educational Services (SES) include summer and before- and after-school tutoring in reading, language arts, or math. They may be offered through public- or private-sector providers who are approved by the state, such as public schools, public charter schools, local education agencies (local school districts, herein referred to as LEAs), educational service agencies, faith-based organizations, and community groups.
