About Fulton County Schools Title
I

The Fulton County School System will utilize Title I funding to develop a program that focuses upon improving student achievement in mathematics.   The program will be limited to schools that have been identified as Needs Improvement or in the Corrective Action category.  Effectiveness of this program will be measured by improvement on the mathematics portion of the Georgia Criterion Referenced Test in grades 2, 4, and 6.

The program will include on-going assistance from four consultants who will provide staff development for teachers with an emphasis on effective practices for working with students of poverty.  Dr. Rudy Payne’s methods for helping students learn mathematics content while building cognitive capacity will be incorporated.  In addition, consultants will serve as teacher coaches in the classroom by team teaching and providing demonstrations as needed.  This opportunity for the consultants to model for teachers and students will establish a dynamic learning-lab type setting at the identified schools.  Finally, the consultants will provide follow-up training and support for schools implementing the Everyday Counts Calendar Math program.  Note:  A number of our schools have trained teachers through Title I funding support to implement Calendar Math.  Title I funding is requested for paying the consultants and purchasing training materials.
