SCHOOL PUBLICITY
The Communications Department helps coordinate publicity for the school system and its schools. To be more effective and provide the farthest reach, each school assigns a staff member or parent volunteer to serve as a publicity liaison to the school system's Communications Department.
This person assists in publicity efforts by collecting and distributing positive news to the local news media. This has been an effective program for many years. Situations or events involving more complex media coverage are managed by the Communications Department.
The Communications Department hosts an annual training workshop to teach basic publicity skills and how to effectively get school news featured or published in the news media. 2009-10 Training Materials
