Fulton families flock to Future Focus Fair

When Superintendent Cindy Loe asked members of Parents as Leaders (PALS), a team of parents representing the Fulton County School System, what their first priority was, the group expressed a strong desire to help families and students prepare for the future. 
 
Wasting no time, PALS, with the support from the Superintendent's Office and the Guidance, Counseling and Social Work Department, put on the Future Focus Fair.

Now more than ever, the Fulton County School System is providing families, teachers and students an easier to understand and user-friendly method of communicating a school's academic performance.  
 
This fall, the system published the first-ever Value-Added Annual Performance Reports for each school.

'Be There' for their children
 
The Fulton County School System is asking parents to 'Be There' for their children this year.
 
Earlier this fall, Fulton Superintendent Cindy Loe joined other metro Atlanta superintendents to show support of a national campaign aimed at inspiring parents to become more involved in their children's education.

Redesigned FCSS web site to debut this spring 
 
Navigating the Fulton County web site will get much easier as the school system launches an entirely new web portal this spring.
 
Replacing the school system's current web site, the web portal will provide easier access to students, teachers, parents and the community because it is much more interactive in nature, and intuitively helps users use the tools they need the most. 

 
 
School system launches new
Fulton Institute of Technology

High school students wanting certification in a field not currently offered in Fulton's traditional high schools were offered a new and free program this fall.
 
In August, a new initiative aimed at the integration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics was launched, called the Fulton Institute of Technology.  
 
 
 
Board approves calendar for 2010-11 school year

After several months of reviewing different options and receiving community input, the Fulton County Board of Education approved a 177-day calendar for the 2010-11 school year.
 
The next school year will begin on August 23, 2010, and end May 27, 2011. 

 
Fulton County Schools TV launches new program

FCS TVFulton County Schools' cable channel 24 -- FCSTV -- has new programming.
 
Launched in October, FYI is a new show that provides up-close-and-personal interviews with key Fulton personalities and spotlights schools and innovative programs.
 
 
 

Happy Holidays!

All schools and central administrative offices
 will be closed between Dec. 21 and Jan. 1
in observance of the winter break.
