SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
- Seniors of African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American decent, with a 3.3 GPA or higher are eligible to apply for the Gates Millennium Scholarship. You can apply at www.gmsp.org or see Ms. Iton for a copy of the application. The application deadline is January 12, 2009.
- Any seniors that are interested in pursuing Cosmetology School after graduation, please see Ms. Iton for some scholarship and additional information.
- Any African-American senior interested in applying for the Ron Brown Scholar program, please see Ms. Iton for an application. Applicants should demonstrate academic achievement, exhibit leadership ability, participate in community service and demonstrate financial need. The application deadline is November 1st.
- Any African-American female seniors that are interested in attending Florida A & M University and pursuing a degree in Computer Science/Technology, please see Ms. Iton in Counseling Suite 1320 for a scholarship opportunity. The scholarships range from $4000 to $10,000 per year for female African American students.
- Any student in grades 9-12 that has taken part in community service activities over the past year and would like to be considered for the 14th annual Prudential Spirit of the Community Award, you are encouraged to fill out an online application form at www.prudential.com/spirit or www.principals.org/prudential (access key: spirit). Once the form has been completed online, it must be printed out, signed and submitted to the principal by October 31st.
- Any senior interested in applying for the AXA Foundation Scholarship, please visit www.axa-achievement.com for an application. The application deadline is December 15, 2008.
- Any student (grades 9-12) interested in participating in the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest, please visit www.jfklibrary.org for contest information, registration and to submit your essay online. First place winner will receive $5000. Second place winner will receive $1000, and up to five finalists will each receive $500. All essays must be submitted by January 10, 2009
- Any seniors interested in applying for the Rotary Club of Windward John Hain Memorial Scholarship, please see Ms. Iton in Counseling Suite 1320 for an application. The application deadline is February
27, 2009.
- The Counseling Department is looking for six (6) female students (juniors and seniors only) that are interested in participating in the Young Women in Science & Technology program. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with a panel of distinguished and influential females who have achieved recognition in their field. The program will be held during the school day on November 13th at the Holiday Inn Conference Center downtown. Please see Ms. Iton in Counseling Suite 1320 before October 13th if you are interested in being considered.
- Applications for the Metro PCS Scholarship will be available beginning October 13th at www.metropcs.com/scholarship. The application deadline is December 15th.
- Any students (9-12th grade) interested in submitting an essay for The Society of Plastics Engineers “Wonders of Plastic” essay contest, please see Ms. Iton in Counseling Office 1320 for an application. All essay submissions must be received by December 19th.
- Any students (9-12th grade) interested in submitting an essay for the ”I Won’t Cheat” essay scholarship contest, please see Ms. Iton in Counseling Office 1320 for the topic and information. All essay submissions must be received by December 31st.
- Any seniors of Hispanic descent, that’s interested in applying for the Univision 34 Scholarship, please see Ms. Iton for an application in Counseling Office 1320. The application deadline is May 31, 2009.
- Any seniors interested in applying for the American Legion Scholarship, please see Ms. Iton for an application. The application deadline is March 27, 2009.
- Any seniors interested in applying for the McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship may apply online at www.mckelveyfoundation.org. The application deadline is January 25, 2009.
- Any seniors interested in applying for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship, please see Ms. Iton for an application or download an application at www.rmhc.org. The application deadline is February 16, 2009.
- Any African-American female senior that’s interested in applying for the Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship, please see Ms. Iton for an application. The application deadline is January 24, 2009.

Any seniors interested in applying for the Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship, please complete the online application at www.bbb.org. The application deadline is January 31, 2009.
- Any seniors interested in applying for Columbus State University’s Servant Leadership Scholarship Program, please visit their website to download their application at https://colstate.scholarships.nelnet.net. The application deadline is January 31, 2009.
- Any senior planning on attending the University of Michigan and enrolling in their College of Engineering, may apply for the Geisinger Scholarship at: http://www.engin.umich.edu/students/scholarships/New_Students.html. The application deadline is January 16, 2009.
- Any senior interested in attending a Historically Black College or University and plan to major in agriculture, food or natural resource sciences, please see Ms. Iton for a scholarship opportunity. The application deadline is February 1, 2009.
- Any senior interested in applying for the Elks National Foundation-Most Valuable Student Scholarship, please see Ms. Iton for an application. The application deadline is January 9, 2009.
- Any seniors interested in attending Georgia Southwestern State University and applying for their freshman scholarships, please apply online at www.gsw.edu. The application deadline is February 15, 2009.
