SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
- Seniors who’ve worked with the elderly either as a job, volunteer, or as an act of kindness are eligible to apply for the 2009 Senior Helpers College Scholarship Award. If you’re selected as a winner, you will receive $250 towards your college education. Please visit the College and Career Cove outside of Counseling Suite 1310 for an application. The application deadline is November 1st.
- Scholarship opportunity: The Dean’s Scholarship is a new scholarship program within the Georgia Tech College of Management that recognizes outstanding high school students for their academic performance, leadership, involvement and potential for success at Georgia Tech and within our top-ranked undergraduate Management program. High school students applying to enter the Georgia Tech fall freshman class as Management students will be considered for the Dean’s Scholarship if they apply for admissions by November 1. www.mgt.gatech.edu/scholarship.
- If you’ve made a difference by volunteering in your community over the past year, you could win $1000 by applying for the Prudential Spirit of the Community Award. Even more importantly, you could win recognition that might inspire other young people to follow your example. - Seniors interested in applying for the St. John/JC McKibbon Scholarship are encouraged to visit the College and Career Cove outside of Counseling Suite 1310 to pick up an application. The application deadline is October 17, 2009.
- Any high school senior interested in applying for the Elks National Foundation 2010 Most Valuable Student Scholarship, please visit the College and Career Cove located outside of Counseling Suite 1310 to pick up an application. The application deadline is November 2, 2009.
- Students in grades 9-12 that have been involved in an activity that is helping to improve race relations in your school or community are encouraged to apply for the Princeton Price in Race Relations Scholarship. The application can be found in the College and Career Cove located outside of Counseling Suite 1310 or downloaded from www.princeton.edu/PrincetonPrize. The application deadline is January 31, 2010. - Any senior interested in applying for The National Commission for Cooperative Education Scholarship, please visit www.co-op.edu to complete an application. In order to apply for this scholarship, you must apply and be admitted to one of the following universities: Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University, Pace University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, or Wentworth Institute of Technology. The application deadline is February 15, 2010.
- Any seniors of Hispanic heritage and a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.0 can apply for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), which is the nations leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education. For more details about HSF scholarship programs and to apply online, please visit the HSF website at www.hsf.net.
- Any senior interested in applying for the Kroger “Earning and Learning” Scholarship, please visit the College and Career Cove located outside Counseling Suite 1310 to pick up an application. The application deadline is February 1, 2010.
- Any juniors or seniors interested in attending the National Scholarship Service College Fair field trip on October 29th, please sign-up with Ms. Iton or Mrs. Webb in Counseling Suite 1320. There will be over 100 colleges in attendance at the Georgia World Congress Center for this event.
- Any African American female seniors that are interested in applying for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship please pick-up an application in the College and Career Cove located outside Counseling Suite 1310. The application deadline is January 21, 2010.
- Any senior student-athlete interested in applying for the Big Sun Scholarship, please visit their website at http://www.bigsunathletics.com to learn how to apply. The application deadline is June 24, 2010.
- Any seniors interested in applying for the Metro PCS Scholarship, please download the application at www.metropcs.com/scholarship. The application deadline is November 25, 2009.
- Any senior of Hispanic decent that’s interested in applying for the Univision 34 Scholarship, please pick-up an application in the College and Career Cove located outside of Counseling Suite 1310. The final application deadline is May 31, 2010. Two winners are selected each month until the final deadline, so start applying now!
- Seniors that are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American are eligible to apply for the Gates Millennium Scholarship. The application is available online at www.gmsp.org. The application deadline is January 11, 2010.
- Any seniors interested in attending Columbus State University and being nominated for the Columbus State University Servant Leadership Program Scholarship, please see Ms. Iton by Friday, Oct. 30th.
- Any senior interested in attending Boston University see below for three scholarship opportunities:
- The Trustee Scholarship—Boston University's most prestigious scholarship recognizes outstanding academic performance and leadership ability.
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship—recognizes students who have embraced the ideals of Dr. King and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to social justice and community involvement. Students must also present very strong academic records.
- Alexander Graham Bell Scholarship—recognizes students with strong math and science abilities who have the potential to thrive at BU's College of Engineering.

Seniors interested in attending GA Tech may be eligible for The G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Scholarship. This scholarship program makes it possible for students to earn their college degree debt free. Student eligibility and criteria include:
- Legal Georgia resident
- Eligible applicant for federal student financial aid
- Less than $33,000 in total family income
- Submit a complete financial aid application each year

The Marist College NSF Scholarship is being offered to academically talented students who wish to major in Computer Science or Information Technology and Systems. Any seniors interested in attending the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering are encouraged to apply for the Geisinger Scholarship. The application is available online at:

Any senior interested in being selected as a 2010 Georgia Scholar, please see Ms. Iton by December 4th to have your name added to the consideration list for nomination. The minimum criteria for being selected are as follows:
- Must be on-track for graduation.
- Must be registered to vote and turn 18 on or before March 1, 2010.
- Must have a non-weighted GPA of at least a 3.75 in core courses.
- Must have a minimum combined score of 1360 on the SAT (Math and Verbal only) or a composite score of 31 on the ACT at one test administration.
- Must have been elected to positions of leadership in a minimum of 2 different activities sponsored by the school.
- Must show evidence of leadership in a minimum of 2 different youth activities outside of school (this does not include paid positions).
- Must have participated in at least 3 different competitive interscholastic activities (athletics, music and literary events, fairs and exhibits).
- Must show evidence of self-esteem and concern for others in a day-to-day basis.
The application deadline is February 1, 2010.

Any senior interested in being nominated for the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship, please see Ms. Iton by November 13th. The criteria for nomination are as follows:
The applicant must:
- Be a graduate of a public or private secondary school or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate given in the year of the award.
- Be a legal resident of Georgia.
- Be a citizen of the United States, a national, or a permanent resident who meets the residency requirement listed above, and provides documentation from the Immigration Naturalization Service.
- Have applied or been accepted for enrollment at an institution of higher education as defined in the Student Assistance General Provisions, 34 CFR 600.4. This could be a proprietary institution of higher education or a postsecondary vocational institution.
- Have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.
- Show promise of continued academic achievement.
