Tax Anticipation Note (TAN)
Due to a downturn in the economy, SPLOST II is generating less revenue than projected. In order to continue to move forward with SPLOST II items, the Board of Education in May 2006 approved a Tax Anticipation Note for $40 million.
This temporary construction loan is based on tax revenues that must be repaid in full prior to December 3, 2006. This loan will be used to continue identified projects until a new revenue source is identified. The TAN allows the district to move forward with:
- Site package and design of Westlake High School
- Roswell High School addition
- Land purchase and design for new high school in north Fulton
- Design work for Oakley Elementary School site in south Fulton
- Design work for Birmingham Road Elementary School site in north Fulton
