School systems feel pinch from state budget cuts

As news reports have ominously reported, state government agencies face funding cuts in order to keep the budget balanced. This requires Governor Sonny Perdue to make difficult funding decisions.

School systems, as well as other state agencies, are facing serious budget cuts this year as well as for next year. The Fulton County School System is expecting a $21.6 million loss in funding due to an additional $7.9 million austerity reduction and the proposed freezing of $13.7 million in homestead exemption grants.
