Sixteen schools earn ENERGY STAR designation
 October is National Energy Month, an appropriate time to congratulate 16 Fulton schools that have earned the ENERGY STAR designation by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Heritage, Oak Knoll and Parklane regain AYP status
Following successful CRCT re-test efforts over the summer, Heritage Elementary, Oak Knoll Elementary and Parklane Elementary have earned Adequate Yearly Progress status for the 2007-08 school year.

Annual charitable giving drive begins Oct. 10
 The 2009 Fulton Schools Employees' Charitable Fund campaign begins soon. You can designate monthly payroll gifts or give a one-time donation.
Due to our school system's recent switch to the SAP business system, all employees should note their intentions -- whether donating or not -- on the form provided to them. This will help ensure the correct information is entered into SAP. The contribution deadline is Nov. 10.

Schools receive State Superintendent's Achievement Award
State Superintendent Kathy Cox recently announced that 28 Fulton County schools were winners of the Georgia Department of Education's first-ever "Superintendent's Distinguished Achievement" awards.

Milton High named National Blue Ribbon School
 Milton High School was the only high school in Georgia to receive the prestigious No Child Left Behind -- Blue Ribbon Schools distinction for 2008, the U.S. Department of Education announced in September.

Web site alerts employees of grant funding opportunities
Each month, Fulton County Schools' Office of Grant Development publishes a list of local and national grants that are available to educators.

Annual luncheon celebrates Fulton's top employees
On Oct. 24 at the Cobb Galleria Centre, more than 1,000 employees, business partners and special guests will pay tribute to each school's Teacher of the Year and School Professional of the Year, as well as the system's Support Professionals of the Year.

Open Enrollment runs
Oct. 10 through Nov. 10
 The school system's annual Open Enrollment for benefits is Oct. 10 through Nov. 10. This is the time of year to make changes to your existing benefits plan or to enroll if you are not currently receiving FCSS coverage. Of particular interest this year are the changes to insurance providers and tiers of coverage.

Online training offered through I.T. Department
 Did you know that free online training exists for some of the common software programs you use every day?
Through a partnership with Dell Computers, the Information Technology Department offers video-based online training for all employees.

Changes in personal contact information to be reported
Board policy GAK (revised in August 2008) mandates that all employees must notify the Human Resources Division in writing whenever they have a change in personal contact information. This includes mailing address, primary telephone number(s) and emergency contacts that are included in the employee's personnel record.
