American Education Week highlights Fulton's
educators
Nov. 16-22 is
American Education Week, a time set aside
to celebrate public schools and honor the
individuals who make a difference in children's
lives. The national celebration features a
special observance each day of the week.
In Fulton County, American Education
Week is bringing a new tradition -- "Principal for
a Day" -- to six schools.

New "3P" program is helping to build the next
generation of school
leaders
Twenty-seven assistant principals were
recently selected for Fulton's new and unique Promising
Principals Program (3P).
The program was designed by the school district's
Department for Leadership and Professional Development
to help build the next generation of school
leaders.

Nov. 10 is deadline for Open
Enrollment, Charitable Fund drive
 The
school system's annual Open Enrollment for benefits
continues through Nov. 10. This is the time of year to
make changes to your existing benefits plan or to enroll
if you are not currently receiving FCSS coverage. Visit
the Employee
Benefits Center web site to make selections
or changes.
Similarly, the deadline to contribute to
the 2009 Fulton Schools Employees' Charitable Fund
campaign ends Nov. 10. You can designate monthly
payroll gifts or give a one-time
donation.

Mimosa Elementary School turns the Big
4-0
Mimosa Elementary School, which opened in
1968, invites all current and former students and
staff to an Open House celebrating its 40th year in
education. The event is Saturday, Nov. 22 from 1-4 p.m.

Creekside,
Westlake clusters make history with health
initiative
The 17 schools in the Creekside and Westlake
clusters have made history with their choices to adopt
healthier lifestyles.
Individual schools around the U.S. have adopted the
"Healthy Kids, Smart Kids" program, but none on the
scale of Fulton County, where approximately 20,000
students are actively engaged in the program.

'Main Event' continues to celebrate and
wow Fulton's
top employees
 Fulton
County Schools' annual employee recognition luncheon was
a proud and positive affair.
The Oct. 24 event drew close to 900 honored
employees and their special guests, school
administrators, elected officials
and business/community partners.

Resource Manual/ Personnel Directory posted on
Outlook Public Folders
An updated Resource
Manual/Personnel Directory has been posted to Microsoft
Outlook Public Folders. The directory includes
central office and school phone/fax numbers, addresses,
employee calendars, cluster lists, school board contact
information and frequently requested
numbers. Employees are encouraged to print
the directory and keep it in a convenient
location. The document is updated throughout the
year as personnel changes are made or
phone/fax/addresses change. Items in red denote recently
updated information.
